DESIGNING an influencer gift box
Designing an influencer gift box is always a fun, creative challenge. Not only is creativity a key objective, but so is standing out from the usual mail that comes in. Given who these gift boxes go to, that can be a tall order! The promotion for the new album by Lawrence The Band enabled us to take a simple premise and elevate the presentation. Our goal was a piece that adopted the personality of the band AND created an unboxing experience for the receiver that could be shared on social media.
In this case, we began with a shippable box the perfect size for a mug, T-shirt and journal that the band wanted to gift, along with the packing structure to protect and organize the contents. And then we got to adding the Soolip finishing touches!
As they opened the box, the receiver was first met with a wall-worthy vellum overlay with the tour dates and the branded artwork from the new album. Beneath was a letterpress printed notecard that had been hand-signed by the band lead members, siblings Clyde and Gracie. “This was a very important element," Wanda says. "It lent the gift tactile energy that gave it a warm, personal feeling that the person on the receiving end could really appreciate."
Also included was a glassine envelope filled with branded stickers with the name of their debut album, Family Business, and a striking yellow wire-bound journal filled with graph paper versus typical lined paper. All these deliberate design elements took the presentation to a new level of expression that represented Lawrence's aesthetic and purpose goals, spreading the Lawrence vibe.
"We’ve had nearly 30 years of playing within the design, paper and packaging industries that we have a breadth of possibilities beyond what our clients could even conceive," Wanda says. "This box was successful because it captured the personality of the band and the tour, which in turn resonated emotionally with the intended audience of the gift."
