Creative Arts Workshops Spring 2024 focus on making your own journal, finding your authentic voice, making ink from wildflowers, embellishing your photos with heart, soul and embroidery, copperplate calligraphy, and more!

I am reading “When You Wonder, You’re Learning” about Mister Rogers and the lessons he instilled in children everywhere to become creative, curious humans.

The book talks about how the tenets of his teaching also applies to adults. It's fascinating how we start life with an abundance of creativity. As we age, for most of us, it dwindles. The reasons are myriad, but for the most part the energy we put into careers, responsibilities, and just putting food on the table, can crush the creativity  that was inherent in us.

And then there comes a time in our lives when we are compelled to feed our creative souls with new experiences. My life's goal is to inspire this in others using creativity as my tool. It was my dream for Soolip when it began in 1995 in Los Angeles. As a boutique paperie, we have always offered exquisite papers from around the world, created bespoke wedding invitations and gift packaging, curated a line of artisanal journals and writing accessories and more.

As a designer and artist, I’ve taken our clients’ ideas, dreams and visions and using the tools I’ve acquired and the fabricating network I’ve honed over three decades, have made them come true in the most beautiful ways possible.

Over time, I began to want to bring people into the Soolip world and inspire them to step inside themselves and find their own inner artist.

Which is how Creative Arts Workshops was born. The workshops are opportunities for people who don’t think of themselves as “creative” to find a fresh approach to something, a new experience that engages the body, mind and spirit fully.

I’ve enlisted the most amazing artists working within disciplines such as calligraphy, making and using the ink from wildflowers, the art of gift wrapping, finding one’s authentic voice through journaling, and even how to make and blend your own tea.

"Creativity is living mindfully. Creativity is being present. Creativity is heart-centered.
Creative Arts Workshops help you flex
the muscles of your heart."

These workshops bring me back to Square One of the passions I have always brought to Soolip -- to instill in others the belief that as humans, we are innately creative. And that creativity in its many forms can lead to an inner reinvention.

So grab your calendar and make some space this spring for your heart and soul and for your creative life to begin!

  • March 16 the workshops kick off with an extensive six-session calligraphy workshop that dives into the special art of Copperplate Calligraphy.

  • On March 23 we have two workshops! In the morning, we are offering From Pixels to Threads, a fun way to embellish your photos with embroidery, and heart. In the afternoon it's all about making inks using wildflowers. Space is already filling up for both of these so save your seat!

  • On March 30, Mindful Chef Evan Rilling is with us to spill the tea about The Alchemy of Plants and how to create magical blends of tea using nature's offerings.

  • Don't miss April 6 when Jen Dohr is here to help you unearth your authentic voice and I take your through a hands-on demonstration of making your own journal -- a place in which to keep all those precious thoughts in Paper to Pen to Page

  • On May 4, we will close out the season with one of my favorites, The Art of Gift Wrapping. I love sharing the techniques I've mastered over the years.
