Alfred Stadler - Handmade Leather Journals

$1,700.00

The Journal Eternal

We have so few days.

This heirloom-quality journal was created to receive the fleeting moments that compose our lives.

But although this journal is an object of extraordinary beauty, it’s not reserved exclusively for grand thoughts or brilliant prose.

These pages are not intended as a museum, but simply as a place to start.

A place to pick up the thread of your story, wherever you may be.

To scribble a few thoughts about that dream you had last night, before the memory slips away.

A few lines of gratitude.

A question.

A prayer, a spell, a secret wish.

A quick sketch.

An important list.

And a place to paste a snapshot, press a blossom, the memory of a summer.

Every organic, natural, hand-crafted element of this journal would have been at home during the Renaissance.

The linen-cotton pages with deckled edges were made in the world’s oldest working paper mill, Velke Losiny, in Czech Republic. The paper is lush, and invites touch. At 170 grams, each substantial page will inspire your pencil, pen, marker or brush.

To form each journal, our master bookbinder sewed 24 sheets into signatures, to make 48 leaves, or 96 pages total. For easy turning and overall durability, each signature is securely hand-sewn into the binding.

The supple leather covers are oiled, stained and hand-sewn by Alfred Stadler, a Brooklyn-based master of artisanal leather-craft and furniture design.

Hand-marbled art papers from India line the inside covers, exquisitely wild boundaries to contain your innermost thoughts and notes.

A limited edition of 15, each priced at $1700. Rare, voluptuous, surprising.
