Photo Journal Bookmaking - A Time Capsule

$285.00

Everyone has an artist inside. The artist is our inner self, what we desire to communicate and express. Whether you work as a corporate executive, lawyer, medical professional, designer, public servant, entrepreneur, parent, student, making time to connect to your authentic self by accessing your innate creativity on a regular basis is vital to our health and well-being. When we try something new outside of our daily work, or when we create something original, we cultivate our ability to think outside the box, keeping us vibrant, open, optimistic, joyful.

I believe in living a creative life for the health and well-being of one's soul. May these classes, of Hand & Heart, spark your curiosity.

- Wanda Wen

Join Simone, the daughter of Soolip Founders, Wanda Wen & the late Grant Forsberg, as she shares her passion for archiving memories.   Alongside her unique personal experience growing up surrounded by paper and aesthetic, she has forged her own artistic expression of delightful, tactile storytelling that results in photo journaling albums, becoming treasured, heirloom art pieces.

You will learn her 5 main design principles that make up a balanced and dynamic album including:

-  narrative and sequencing

-  image curation, incorporating polyptychs and catharsis collage

-  ephemera integration

-  page composition and architecture

-  hand and heart work

Using a stitched, soft-cover 20-page book structure made of handmade papers, you will use this blank canvas to create a personal-sized album.  Whether it be a celebration of new life, a chronicle of a recent adventure, an ode to love or friendship, this album will encapsulate your story in tactile splendor.   Participants will leave with a finished 6" x 8" album.

Prerequisite:

1.  Gather a selection of 35 - 40 images that depict the story to be told.  We encourage selecting a diverse collection of images that feature both posed and spontaneous moments, and of people and setting. Keep in mind that magic often lies in the unassuming.  Email via DropBox or a zip file to simone@soolip.com by October 26.  Images will be developed and available at the workshop.

2.  Gather and bring pertinent printed ephemera such as small documents, receipts, tickets, nature findings, etc.  Err on the side of having more than less.

Please Note: Workshop fees are non-refundable
