The Making of an Enchanted Fairy House
Embark on an enchanting journey into the world of fairy tales and craftsmanship. A delightful parent child bonding experience, join Saoirse McGurrin as she guides you through the creation of a wooden heirloom Fairy House, inspired by her deeply rooted Irish Celtic heritage and underscoring the inherent magic of Mother Nature.
In this captivating workshop just in time for the holidays, participants will get the opportunity to construct their own, heirloom-quality Fairy House to enjoy for the holiday season and year-round. We will work with stained birch wooden pieces and detailed hand-carved miniature wooden furniture to construct a fairy environment fit for any nature spirit. Participants will have an assortment of delicate paper florals, natural dried moss for touches of woodland charm, fairy lights, and an array of miniature accessories such as a ceramic tea set, stove pot, books, potion bottles, and tiny bedding fit for fairy royalty, all at their fingertips to customize their own Fairy House, ensuring that every creation is a one-of-a-kind heirloom piece.
In addition to building and personalizing their Fairy House, there will be opportunities for participants to write enchanting fairy letters on handmade stationery and enclose them using the age-old craft of wax sealing. This spellbinding activity adds an extra layer of personalization and old-world charm to each participant’s experience, allowing for further heart connection into a vibrant experience punctuated with wholesome and tactile activity.
Under the expert guidance of Saoirse McGurrin, Founder of The Fairy Place, parents and children will learn miniature crafting skills, how to assemble intricate fairy furnishings, and the art of letter writing and wax sealing. Saoirse, a writer and artist based in Los Angeles, brings her passion for connecting with magic through nature and imagination to this workshop, ensuring a truly otherworldly experience for all participants.
Participants will take home One completed Enchanted Fairy House, a testament to the creativity of heart & hand shared during this workshop, along with a Mushroom Fairy Doll Family, a 3-piece starter family, to live within this heirloom treasure. Assembled house dimensions: 19.5” l, 17.5” h, 15.5” d
Prerequisite: If you feel inspired, take a walk in your neighborhood and gather 5 - 10 items that Mother Nature has presented to you, and feel like they can belong in your Enchanted Fairy House. Ideas: leaves, twigs, stones, flowers, bark, etc.
