Wildflower Alchemy: Hand-dyed Scarves & Textiles with Natural Inks - March 22, 2025
Imagine painting with colors emanating from the wildflowers that live around you! This workshop is perfect for all nature and fashion buffs, anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature, and gets a thrill using what already exists in our natural environment to create beauty. You will be introduced to a most magical realization of the breadth of color and artistry at your fingertips amidst the wildflowers that surround you.
An eye-opening, and inspiring experience, join Waldorf educator and author Mona Lewis as she guides you through extracting colors from wildflowers, and further inspires your inner scientist by introducing the use of natural modifiers to nuance both subtle and intense variations of the base colors.
Once a rainbow of colors have been created, participants will learn how to prepare silk fabric with a mordant enabling the plant-origin color to adhere to the fibers. Students will then dive into the magic of color dying both a wearable silk scarf and a silk velvet patch to use as an objet d'art in your home, or mounted onto paper to create a unique card for correspondence.
Please Note: Workshop fees are non-refundable
Workshop Location:
